I still stick my hands in to block kicks like that now that I'm cross training Muay Thai.
Goju-Joe is absolutely right. I just don't seem to be able to stop myself.
In the style of 'Clockwork Orange', I keep watching that 5 second arm break video someone (whiteshark?) posted recently, but it doesn't seem to be working.
Here's a tip for you all. If you ever want to punch me in the face, just feint with a leg first. I'll open the door right up for you.

Anyone remember that video where an old kung fu guy is fighting an MTer and he's (the kung fu guy is) blocking kicks with his hands, or just standing there and taking them on his legs - all the time being like "Is that all you got? Come at me properly, bro - you candy-ass martial sportist, you!" (well, that's what it seemed like), yet is clearly in a world of hurt from it?

I did a bit of sparring on saturday, and concentrated so hard on not dropping my hands that I essentially had to paralyse myself.
I did the whole "look casual" routine, but my left thigh looks like someone took a hammer to it.
