    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    I want biceps.

I have 10 lb dumbbells, elastic bands and enough space to do pushups (age is 16, if that counts for anything). I also have skinny arms.

I know, I know...lifting heavy weights is the best way to get bigger blah blah blah.

But what if I don't want to lose hand speed (I'm doing Kyokushin right now) yet still want to gain strength and a little bit of mass?
What can I do with the stuff I have now?

No, seriously. Will relatively unsmall biceps slow me down?

K, good point. I guess I just needed reassurance.

EDIT: Should I follow a routine/numbers of sets while lifting weights as light as 10 pounds or just do it until failure?

I'd do that if I had a bar.

Find a tree branch, ledge or just anything above your head you can grab with both hands and will support your weight. That or the crossbow idea. Damn kids today. Want everything the easy way!

Bicep curls. 10 lb dumb bells is a waste of time. Find the weight at which you can do a maximum of 5 reps before failure. Then do 5 sets of 3 reps each. Perform each curl as fast as possible while maintaining proper form. Take plenty of time between sets. The idea is not to be so sore that you can't use your arms the next day. The idea of repping to the point of failure is a bodybuilder thing that is counterproductive if you're trying to build actual strength. Pull-ups and the like are also great. I go to the park near my house to do pull-ups, but you can also get a bar that clamps on your door frame for not too much money.

god there is some fucking **** advice in this thread. can you people who know nothing about the human body kindly **** off out of this forum?

your question is fucking stupid but ill bite anyway. you are a skinny teenager and want bigger biceps, you know what you should do? eat. drink a gallon of milk a day, and eat everything you see. and do squats. get someone to show you how, and then do squats while holding heavy things. and jumping squats. bicep curls are going to do sweet **** all for you right now.

    I'll bite on this Alex.

I'm a pretty skinny guy too. I see this "Milk & Squats" advice a lot on here, but never with the the claim that the bicep curls are pointless at this stage.

How so? Is it that the boy needs to build up a certain level of mass generally before you can pile it onto certain areas? Or do you just mean he shouldn't be worrying about his biceps if his body is weak because those biceps on a weak body would be pointless?
