Zombie Cage Fighters and more at CombatCon

    http://thecombatcon.com/

Website for an upcoming convention in Las Vegas that aims to bring martial arts together with geek-culture genres including steampunk, horror, sci-fi and fantasy. Special guests will include Nate "Rock" Quarry:

Professional MMA fighter, spinal technology spokesman, and founder of Zombie Cage Fighter. Quarry has fought in the UFC where he is known as “Rock,” and has won 18 out of his 22 professional fights. Additionally, Quarry appeared in the first season of The Ultimate Fighter and was the first contestant of the show to get a chance at a title fight in the UFC. Quarry is also a spokesperson for a spinal technology company called Nuvasive, as well as being the founder of Zombie Cage Fighter.
and famed science fiction author (and historical fencing/Bartitsu enthusiast) Neal Stephenson, among others.

Jeeze, this is the third time over the past month that I would have sworn I'd posted in another form only to have the post show up in MABS. Could a mod. move the OP to YMAS?

Seems like an interesting event, but it's like they're not sure if it's a HEMA expo or a sci-fi convention. I guess the two can sorta go together, but I'm not really feeling the cohesion, especially on their site/schedule.

I am curious about "Zombie Cage Fighter" though.

**** that ****, zombies are NOT meant to be that badass.

    Zombie + Drunken Kung Fu = t3h d34dly.

It's intended to be both, emphasizing the martial arts/fighting content in sci-fi/horror/etc. I hear you re. the site, but possibly that's just because it's kind of a novel idea.

If they really want to bring MMA and geek culture together, they need to have open cage night with cosplay characters, extending with a few minor exceptions to <STRICTLY> female renissance reenactors.

Wrath James White is a horror author and former kickboxing champ local to Vegas. They should tap him as a guest.

I'd like to see a venue where thin, attractive women are also allowed.
