    Suggestions for BJJ in Seattle

    I'm a 4 year practitioner in JJJ (I know, I know) and I'm thinking of either adding or switching to BJJ. For people in the area, I actually live in Kenmore, so I'd like to keep it kind of north Seattle-ish. I've looked online, and there's certainly options around here.

    I'm hoping that someone can sell me on the place to be for BJJ. Price is an object, but mostly I'd like to go in and get and get my ass handed to me by a BJJ white belt when I'm a brown belt in JJJ (best way to learn.) If anyone goes to a BJJ school around here and wants to give me the rundown, please do.

    I've actually gone there a couple times, and that place is very cool. Aaron is a badass.

    I think one of my considerations is that I kind of need a place that's got classes most nights and some weekend days, or else I have a hard time scheduling.

    Have you asked some of the people who train with Aaron. I know that a few of them train elsewhere in BJJ more regularly. The only places I can remember are in Ballard and Renton, not quite North end

    If my dreams of moving to Seattle ever materialize, I am so training there.

    If he hold back from battle;
    But old age will grant him no truce,
    Even if spears spare him.

    Yah, some of the guys (Matt Jones) trains down at Gracie Barra, and speaks highly of it. I know that they've got some daytime classes last I checked. They're a little farther south as well http://www.bjjseattle.com/location.php

    A lot of the guys at Seattle Jujutsu/SAMBO do daytime workouts too, but it's not a regularly scheduled thing, and generally non-members don't just drop in for these sessions.

    I know Aaron has met Brian Johnson from http://www.nwjja.com/ and said he's a good guy. I've never met him personally, but he looks to be a really good competitor.

    Marcelo Alonso's place would be another option, but I don't know much about that club. http://mabjj.com/index.php?option=co...d=50&Itemid=56

    Good luck finding something that works for you.

    You have tons of quality BJJ options in Seattle. I train at Marcelo's. There's the aforementioned Gracie Barra as well as one in Ballard. There's also a Pedro Sauer school a friend of mine trains with his wife at that he's happy at that's closer to Kenmore than all of the aforementioned options, but my google-fu is failing me. I can ask him if you want.

    Wow, thanks a lot everyone! Very helpful. Distancewise, these are mostly pretty good, except for the further south Barra one. I'll probably just look honestly at the schedules. Frankly, the couple times I've been to Seattle Jujutsu have been amazing, but my schedule doesn't link up enough. Hopefully that will change someday.

    Having looked over the site, I'm really liking the full schedule and abundance of kickboxing that goes on at Marcelo's. I may have to try that out. Thank you very much.

    Tried Marcelo's yesterday evening. Very cool...were you there? Marcelo seems like an excellent teacher and is just the best kind of character. I'm soul searching now making sure that I can train enough to justify the monthly fee.

    Either way, I'm freakin sore today.
