    Hell yeah! Hell no!

You can lead a larpist to water but you can't make them think.

    • Some aikidoesque guy's video of a real knife attack interspersed with what he thinks the victim should have done in response. The attack is quick aggressive and chaotic. The "what i wouldda dun" is your typical single thrust and freeze attack. But he just can't see it.

I really really hate the what I would have done stance. Even if Akido guy new his **** he wasnt there and diddnt have to deal with the situation. So he should shut up.

And using somebody getting stabbed as an ad Is equally low.

The whole "what I would do" approach is kind of tired, but the point in the vid sort of makes sense even if the scenarios are somewhat less-than realistic. Move off the line of attack and gain control of the weapon is a pretty standard self defense approach.

The video attempts to break down a real attack and offer defense options step by step. Learning knife defense from videos of real situations is better than purely imagined scenarios.

My point: OP why troll whoever created the video? The advice seems to make sense. Pretty much all MA training begins with from some form of compliant drilling, my BJJ school does it every class then at the end of class we have 30min to an hour to work it on a resisting opponent. Lets try not to be pompous ass MAists and realize when someone is headed in the right direction with their training. To me the techniques in the vid showed -move out of the way of the weapon and grab that ****. I've seen much worse, for example; double arm cross block to knife thrust....or..... crescent kick the knife from the attackers hands....Sure, the person demonstrating the knife technique has most likely never used said techniques himself (for realz) the principals could offer a slight benefit to practitioner of said style (Miyama Ryu.. WTF!)
