There was a time when I would have been impressed by the above links, the "logic" involved would have appealed to my little guy syndrome. Now, knowing the rules to "MMA" I'm surprised anyone would fall for them (especially the defense that will easily enable you to put an attacker who has you mounted and is raining blows down on you to the ground). I did a search for Jeff Anderson and Street Fighting Uncaged and didn't see anything relevant so if its been talked to death before, my apologies, I though we could all point and lulz.

(Or I'm a fool and you can all point and LOLz at me, either way, someone wins)

If you look closely, he is advocating blocking a knee with your forearms.

I'm sure that Kintanon would cringe at that thought, especially since he broke his arm against 'just' a kick (no disrespect WhiteShark :-).

The first link says you need from 5 to a "bajillion" martial arts to be a successful MMA fighter. I always thought it was two or three, one or two for striking and one for grappling. Well guess if I want to be an MMA fighter I'd need to late off the next 30 years for beginning practice.

Nothing against Jeff Anderson, but....

Did anyone ever see that "Pros vs. Joes" episode with Randy Couture? One of the Joes was an Army Close Quarters Combat Instructor, and even though it was Randy Couture he was getting in the octagon with(who admitted on the show ground&pound was his speciality, not submissions which was the obstacle featured) the guy did no better than any of the other Joes, which isn't saying much.

Combat Instructor looked a little bit better than the other guys.

I have a question... on the Pros vs Joes wouldn't it have been a good thing to pull guard and try to just hold Randy there as long as possible? I mean he would still easily pass it and submit anybody but It's better than what those guys were doing...

Do you think any of those Joes knew what pulling guard is? And the one guys who might have known what it is - the Combatives Instructor - didn't do it because pulling guard in military H2H is a bad, bad idea.
