I prefer paintballing to airsoft. It's a lot easier to "rhino hide" in airsoft then it is in paintballing...although airsoft is cheaper. This link should lead you to equipment for both though.

My advice? Don't waste your money.
A decent functional airsoft costs as much as it's "real steel" semi auto counterparts. Expect to pay upwards of $300 at least for a machine that doesn't jam constantly. Also, at a limit of 350fps, don't expect your sniper to be accurate beyond @ 25 feet.
Oh, and unlike real life, concealment and cover are the same thing. Yes, you can hide behind a shrub and it will act as cover against airsoft.
If you like running around in the woods, and playing with your weapons platform of choice enough to spend the money, then go for it! But if you want some sort of "realism" from your larping experience, well, I don't know what to tell you.
Also, the airsoft kids I've met tend to be REALLY ANOYING. The things they don;t know about firearms could fill volumes, but don;t tell them that. They are 1337 0p3r470r2 don't you know?
And one more thing...

Yeah. You know what I mean?
