Muay Thai in a cage?
What are your opinions on Muay Thai matches held in a cage? Seems like it could be a good way to get some striking experience while in the cage, if you have MMA aspirations. On the flipside, would this make the fight somehow less legitimate in some people's eyes?
There aren't many Muay Thai or kickboxing organizations around here and it's rather hard to find fights. The MMA org that I fight out of is considering adding some MT matches to their cards. I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons here, and I think I need some help.
I had one Muay thai match in a cage, and I actually enjoyed it
If you think about it, the lack of real "corners" make it hard to corner somebody because they have more room to get out. But at the same time, if you get them on the fence, you can flying knee/flying kick without fear of falling out of the ring.
If you're amateur, it's a great way to get experience - ring or not. If you're pro, I wouldn't bother - I'd go fight in a Muay thai org and not an MMA one.
The lack of corners might not hurt me much since my ringmanship is awful.

If a MT organisation accepts the MT in a cage, there's no problem.
If a MT organisation doesn't accept them, so what ,you can legally sandbag an opponent of the MT organisation -> double win.
you: 2 MT fights + 10 MT-MMA fights = 12 fights
if the MT organisation doesn't accept the 10 fights, than you have had 2 fights according to them and therefor your opponent also has to be a rookie (max 3 fights).
So why the statistics will say 2-3, in reality it will 12-3. :boxing:
