    Finding a Fight

How would someone who doesn't train at a school which competes regularly go about finding an amateur MMA event to compete in?

go to a school, say 'I want to fight' and they will set it up.

or find a tournament on the net.

But I would advise you to spar at an MMA school first, Krav doesn't automatically translate, it depends how you've ben taught

I wouldn't expect Krav to hold up in a ring/cage on its own, and have training outside of it (just happens to be what I have the most experience in.)

I could really just walk into a school and they'll set something up?

you'd have to talk to the coach and say you've done stuff before etc but they'd probs do it, they have no reason not to

..some places may ask you to spar first in case you're one of those nutters who just wants to die

well then going to a gym is definitely the first step.. just as a peice of advice though maybe the second step should be actually going to the gym and training for a while, even if its only a few weeks you'd be better off doin a little preliminary testing in the gym under an mma ruleset before you enter a show.

look up local mma promoters on google. Call them, and say you're an ammy looking for a fight. that's all it takes. note, that I don't advocate mma fights for those without training. hopefully you've spent a solid amount of time in full contact sparring.

If you've been to amateur fights, especially ones with exhibition matches, you'll quickly realize the importance of training. It's not even that you might get your ass kicked or anything, but more so that you(and your opponent) might just look like ... crap. I don't know how the people(who fought) go around letting people say to them that it was an awesome fight or anything.

    Or you're just a nutter.

I'll admit that my ground-work is currently sub-par and will need attention before I try anything, but am I wrong to get the impression that you guys are saying my striking wouldn't be worth much either?
