Is it just me, or does Arlovski roll for an omoplata from mount?? Why would someone do that??
I'm a BJJ noob, but...doesn't it make more sense, especially against a fat, out of shape novice, to go for, I dunno, an armbar? By say, turning to face your opponent while you go for the arm?
Maybe he was trying to use an omoplata to roll to his opponent's back, but there have to be easier ways to do that from the position he already has, yeah?
Either I'm an idiot or Andrei is. Tell me which!
I dont think that's an omoplata, but i'm not precisely sure what it is.
I think the answer to all of your questions, though, is that arlovski wasnt taking the fight very seriously. Would you? This is publicity, not a pro mma match.
Well...no, I mean it's not an omoplata yet. But it's the direction you would go to roll for one, as opposed to the direction you'd go for an armbar. Is there an option I'm not seeing from that position?
You are not an idiot. You are just watching reality tv. You really think Andrei or the marshmallow man took this **** seriously? Andrei has never been known to be the best grappler but this was just some fat tool off the street. He could do whatever he wanted with little fear of negative repercussions. Fat boy had no sub defense obviously so that was basically like watching a kitten play with a ball of yarn.
In conclusion stay in bbj school and dont do drugs.
I just...I dunno. I would've expected a mounted gogoplata or a wristlock or double armbar, or something cool. What Andrei did doesn't even make sense to me.
At least there's nothing wrong with my vision, I guess.
Oh. Well that makes more sense. Guess I'm used to seeing it from side control, without the legs across the head. Hooray, I'm an idiot anyway.

Can someone explain this show to me? I keep seeing these 2 minute clips and they confuse me...
Is this like MMA pro-wrestling or something?
I mean I get the premise, but it is obviously scripted as hell... right?
