Sambo/Catch seminar - Montreal, Canada - 8/15-16/09
Saturday, August 15th at 2pm, and Sunday, August 16th 9am - 5pm
1) Sambo with Stephen Koepfer
2) Catch Wrestling with Kris Iatskevich
3) Open clinic with Steve and Kris answering questions by comparing the Sambo and Catch approaches
Kris' session will cover stand up grappling, throws, and takedowns. Once on the ground, the focus will be staying on top, transitional escapes and breakdowns, then submission chains/flows with special attention to leglocks. Some attention will be given to “ripping”; using discomfort to work an advantage on your opponent.
Stephen will cover rolling attacks from standing and various ground positions. The session will start with proper forward/backward rolling mechanics and will follow with rolling drills (solo and partner drills). Several attacks, counters attacks, and takedown/submission combinations will be practiced. Techniques in this segment will include many common and lesser known attacks of the arms, shoulders, hips, legs, and chokes. We will cover how to attack against or from within the turtle and half guard. A sambo jacket or gi top is required for this segment.

Hey, will you have those stall-bar things there?
[/ttt]Many things we do naturally become difficult only when we try to make them intellectual subjects. It is possible to know so much about a subject that you become totally ignorant.

I have to say that this was definitely one of the best seminars (more of a camp really) that I have ever taught or trained at. What was so awsome, aside from Kris' monumental knowledge, was that great feeling when you meet another like minded grappler. We were on the same page about so many topics and fed off each other in our teaching in a way that really made for a great experience to those who attended.
The information was staggering and the guys who came really got a awsome event. Kris and I each did about 4 hours each, and we did a joint 4 hour Q&A style seminar. So many topics were covered and I still feel like we could have kept going. I also still feel incredibly sore after 12 hours of training in two days...LOL.
The DVD set will be a great item no doubt.
All the guys who attended were class act! No egos, hard workers, and really welcoming.
I can't say enough about the weekend. It was fantastic!
