Hall of Shame: Banned substances in MMA
There has been a lot about steroids in MMA over the last little while. But it is really hard to find a list of athletes that have tested positive.
Those who are testing positive are giving this sport a bad name. They need to be identified publicly, their records questioned, and monitored by us the public. I don't care if it is a famous fighter, or a nobody, we need to know who they are.
So, I am proposing this Hall of Shame because it pisses me off.
I think Bullshido is the place that a list like that could find a home as a thread in the forums. I am limiting myself to fighters who have tested positive for a banned performance enhancing substance. Each name has the substance, or result, and a link to an article about the positive test. Feel free to add to the list.
Here is the beginning of a list:
- ** Josh Barnett, tested positive in 2009 for Drostanolone
** Thiago Alves, tested positive in 2007 for a diuretic, Spironolactone
** Tim Sylvia, positive test 2003, Stanozolol
** Sean Sherk, tested positive in 2007 for Nandrolone
** Stephan Bonner, positive test in 2006 for Boldenone
** Kevin Randleman, fake urine sample:
** Hermes Franca, positive test in 2007, Drostanolone
** Kirill Sidelnikov, positive test in 2009, Stanozolol / Winstrol,
** Bob Sapp, BALCO connected, positive test in 2000
** Ken Shamrock, positive test in 2009, 19-Norandrosterone, 19-Noretiocholanolone and Stanozolol.
** Royce Gracie, positive test in 2007, nandrolone
** Chris Leben, positive test in 2008, Stanozolol
** Johny Morton, positive test in 2007, Testosterone.
** Jason Winther, positive test in 2007, methadone, morphine, stanozolol and trenbolone
** Phil Baroni, positive test in 2007, Boldenone Metabolite and Stanozolol Metabolite
** Karo Parisyan, tested positive in 2009 for banned substances hydrocodone, hydromorphone and oxymorphone.
** Bill Mahood, Positive in 2007 for drostanolone
** Carina Damm, positive in 2008 for nandralone.
** Pawel Nastula, Positive in 2008 for nandrolone.

Would you not cycle off, or do you just have no intentions of ever actually getting tested?

A) I kind of doubt I'll ever be tested
B) Yes, it's not hard to do.

Yeah that's a decent point. I've wondered if he was actually -on- them during that fight or if they were just still in his system from previous use anyway, because I've been issued drugs containing two of those substances and I can testify that they are certainly not performance enhancing by any stretch of the imagination.

As for pain killers, they kill pain. It doesn't bother you as much, you reacte differently to it. While I've said the same thing about them before, they still kill pain which is not allowed.
