I'd like to question the race being played out in defence to why Dennis was chosen to challenge another black man.
Few questions here and some not realated to the race issue:
1. Was Dennis the only black trainer in the school?
2. Was Dennis chosen becasue of his race being similar to the victums?
3. Would the situation had lead to such beating if it were another trainer facing the Jesus guy and not Dennis?
4. The timing of this video release by Blythe and Dennises recent trial, were they connected? In other words, did Blythe know that Dennis was getting convicted by another crime and decided the tape's secrecy was no longer relevant? If not then why was it hidden for so long?
I'd like to comment on other things but such comments are similar to what has already been mentioned in the first half of this thread so that won't be necessary.

It appears to have been established that when someone enters a Dojo for a challenge, the top student fights the person. If the top two students lose their fights to the challenger, then the challenger fights the Sensei.
From the other videos taken at Dojo, it appears Dennis is Blythe's right hand man. In other words, he is his top student. That is why you see Dennis occasionally instruct the other students, i.e. telling them to be quiet because their leader is speaking.
While this attack is heinous, there is nothing to indicate it was race based or motivated.
