Wow you linked the one and only fight in existence (to my knowledge, as I've actually looked far and wide for vids of Capo working) where someone uses actual Capoeira moves found only in Capoeira to pull off a win in MMA by sheer luck. The fact remains that Capoeiristas still lose an overwhelming majority of the time against people of other styles and they train no-contact almost all of the time, which makes Capoeira a **** style. TKD has loads of vids like this. Does that make TKD good for fighting? No.
Whiny Capo discussion culled:
Disrespectful?? - No BS MMA and Martial Arts
This confuses me.
Full Contact Capoeira (videos, believe it or not) - No BS MMA and Martial Arts
This has been done before. Capoeira CAN be trained in a way that makes it useful for fighting. Probably not the BEST but still useful.
Also, many top level BJJ guys from Brazil have Capo back grounds, including Ruben "Cobrinha" Charles, and it shows in the way they move sometimes.
It is a cull people no explanations of been there done that are necessary.
The new OP decided to bicker with EM for a flippant comment about capo in a MMA discussion.
Nice cull. No reason capoeira can't teach valuable skills. Flexibility, endurance, distance, timing.... But it probably needs a more practical style to bring it to application.
Capoeira's got a lot of great stuff already mentioned: flexibility, Brazilian women. But, there's a reason the video is "Crazy 20 second Capoeira Knockout!!!1!" Capo gives you great endurance, but also asks you to burn through it so fast. Get me a "Crazy 20 minute Capoeira Knockout!" and you'll change my mind.
