OK, I am never going to find the pic; so I am finally going to tell the story.
I am a huge fan of Wally Jay. He has been a dear friend and mentor for many years. I can tell some outstanding stories about him, and I highly respect him.
Through him I met George Dillman. Because Wally asked me, I book George for a clinic. I was training Dan Severn for UFC 5 and wanted really to work on some of the PPCT stuff for kneeing the thighs. PPCT came from a student of Dillman so I went to the source. Yes, I should have looked alot closer at the entire thing.
Anyway, John Saylor really wanted to be there, but he couldn't make it. I am VERY happy because I fear he would have killed Dillman after what happened.
Anyway George is teaching various stuff, most ok. Some less so. So he is showing how to do a KO with a one knuckle fist to a point on the jaw.
After helping a few people he walked up to me, felt my arm and peck and said "You're a big guy," then walked past me....
...then he sucker punched me!
Yes, I am sure he used the one knuckle fist; but the point is he walked past me, out of my line of vision, then sucker punched me.
In the picture, as I am going down I am smiling. This is NOT because I was knocked out. My training when surprised like that, is to drop down, turn and shoot a double. I was doing that, smiling and thinking "I am paying this guy $2000 to sucker punch me?"
I never got to shoot in on him because his assistant follows you down and jumps on your back to "revive" you. I suspect this is to prevent you getting right back up to show you weren't out; and to prevent someone like me from shooting a double and then choking George so hard his parents would die.
He tried all night to KO my Uncle. My Uncle never let behind him, and my Uncle gave him NOTHING, no reaction, to ANY technique George tried. He was pissed. So was I; but we finished the clinic, went our ways, and we never had George back again.
There is the story of the KO though... someone may find the pic because it was full page in either Black Belt or Karate Ill. You will know its me by the judo gi, and the smile.....
