Fighting in my first smoker October 3rd
It's going on in Chicago a week from Saturday; this is going to be my first time fighting in anything harder contact than a Bullshido throwdown or krotty pointfighting. It's going to be three two minute rounds, 14 oz gloves, shinguards and headgear, no elbows or knees to the face. My basic strategy is clinch, corner, and pound. Or maybe corner, clinch, and pound. There will be clinching.
While I've only been training Muay Thai for about a month now, I've been hittin' doodz in some fashion or another since I was sixteen. What's more, I fear that I won't be able to keep up my training 2-4 hours a day+cycling 90 miles a week schedule as well once the weather turns cold and the snow hits. Which, in Michigan, could be anytime between October and January.
I've been wanting to get in a ring since, jesus christ, senior year of high school (I just graduated from college), and I'm finally getting my opportunity. I do plan on fighting amateur MMA at some point in the coming year (before I potentially ship off to Mongolia), and this seems like a good place to start.
