well.. correction to my last post... maybe "koryu gumdo" and "seitei iai" just ain't the same...
Koryu Gumdo (black belt form "Moo Sa Gumbup") by Grandmaster JP Wood, Chairman of the World Koryu Gumdo Association:
Funny, both my karate sensei on Okinawa started their rank history as hachidan. Hum, well, that was back when they had just adopted the rank system from Kodokan Judo and they were already masters in their own right :)
Then I amend my earlier statement. No navel-gazing, anime-watching ki hippie aikidoka LARPing in an entirely compliant American dojo has ever been killed in a training accident. I always assumed that the Japanese still did their aikido in a practical way. The hazing thing is a disappointment, though.

I think you need to read the thread so, you don't repeat what has already been discussed and nixed. This is a thread on his claims not diagnose a disorder over the internet.
Matt Morton has been very busy, he is now a 7th degree black belt in Yudo, a 5th degree black belt in Koryo Gumdo, a 5th degree black belt in Hapkido and a 4th degree black belt in Taekwondo. Or maybe he is just lying again. He is now running the “Adaptive Martial Arts Alliance”, which consists of two schools (one in Wood River, IL and Chesterfield, MO) which teaches mentally and physically disable children martial arts. And he states that, “Jeog-Eung Hapkido Alliance 적응합기도동맹 is the host organization of Adaptive Martial Arts Alliance 적응무 술동맹. The purpose of Jeog-Eung Hapkido Alliance 적응합기도동맹 is to offer and facilitate a quality and traditional Hapkido program.
The members in this alliance are in good standing with: Moo Do Won International, Koryo Gumdo International, United States Martial Arts Association.”
Now I’m not sure whether “the members in this alliance” is referring to the Adaptive Martial Arts Alliance or the Jeog-Eung Hapkido Allaince.
This is the AMAA’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/AdaptiveMartialArtsAlliance
Matt Morton also taught at “Camp WeCandu”, which is a summer camp for mentally and physically disabled children.
Matt has been posting on martialartsplanet.net under the username marinevet63031 and claiming that he is a disabled combat marine corps veteran.
And that he wears leg braces, has PTSD, traumatic brain injury, degenerative spine disease and a curved spine.
Matt may actually has good intentions for teaching mentally and physically disabled children martial arts, but he is ultimately lying to them. I have not been to any of Matt’s classes but I question his martial arts ability despite him stating that his techniques come from the Moo Sul Kwan system. http://www.martialartsplanet.net/for...d.php?t=118719
Ah yes, it is a classic thing we see from of those who teach or engage in bullshido. You work with the poor, underprivileged, disabled and do plenty of community service and outreach. Then people will defend the good you do, instead of saying "yeah he's a liar and a fraud."
Besides lacking integrity Matt is short on the history on Taekwondo. And he claims he is also a Shodan in Shotokan Karate.
I would like some advice on this whole thing. Matt is teaching martial arts to the mentally and physically disabled, while lying about his martial arts resume. Should I try and contact the parents? E-mail what I now to the local newspaper? The AMAA’s Illinois school is located at Yi’s Martial Arts Fitness Academy, should I contact the owner? I fear that he would lie to them or move to another city and do the same thing again. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to prevent Matt from continuing to deceive people?
The way it was done here was to contact governing bodies. So, you'll want to see who awarded him his newest rank, send them this or the other thread, show the original lies and see what they do.
The United States Martial Arts Association did not reply to my email about having Matt listed as a 6th degree black belt in Judo. http://www.wwmaa.org/memberlist/blackbelts/list1.htm
I contacted the head of Moo Do Won International and Koryo Gumdo International (John P. Wood) and informed him of Matt’s previous actions. He replied to the first email with, “I am aware of the past, But who are you? and why do you care what Matt Morton is doing.” I’m still waiting on a reply to the second email.
But I found a photo of John P. Wood with Matt Morton.
“I would like to thank grandmaster Matt Morton for spending the week with us teaching Wangjo Hapkido. We had a great time in classes and the students loved the variety of techniques and exercises to enhance their martial arts skills.” — at JP Wood Martial Arts America.
