I picked up the gun this morning (actually, Saturday morning), but haven't shot it yet. I went straight home and field stripped it, looked for any rough spots according to Syd's "Fluff and Buff" guide from the aforementioned 1911 sight (everything was perfect), installed my grips and recoil spring, and cleaned it up. The bore was fairly clean at first, but now it's damned pretty.
I wound up putting the stock recoil spring back in because I wasn't capable of working the slide with the 18.5 pound spring in. I have read that the stock spring is 16 pounds, but I have no idea if that's accurate.
The next range trip will happen ASAP and I'll start a new thread with the results from that visit: I can't wait to see how I shoot this gun as compared to the Colt I rented, mostly because that Hogue grip feels great.
And how many of your filthy american dollars did it cost you?
$396.55 for the pistol (shipped), plus another $28 for the FFL transfer fee and background check fee, for a total of $424.55. The previously listed accessories cost me $60.47 (shipped), and a 25 round box of 230gr Remington Golden Saber was $38.94 (shipped), for a grand total of $523.96.

It feels great to finally have all this bought after almost three years of wanting a gun, which lessens the impact of the price.
That is still one heck of a deal.
