NY Times Article: Beware of Stretching
I found this quite interesting - the thesis of the article is that static stretching actually inhibits athletic performance. As team captain of the UM BJJ club, one of my principle duties is running warmups, and hence stuff like this is quite relevant to me.
It strikes me that as far as BJJ is concerned, there are certain static stretches which *do* have direct bearing on the sport, such as that between being able to pull a bent leg towards one's chest and playing guard.
But in general, any thoughts?
