This past Sunday me and 2 of my friends went to the new Octagon MMA in Dallas, TX.
First off, this was the most talent packed seminar I have ever been to. Around 10 bjj blackbelts including Amauri Biteti, Big Nog, and Danny Valvertie to name a few.
Awsome instructon, awsome gym, great attitudes, I think I have found a new place to train.
Sorry for the lack of info just had such a wonderful time had to tell someone.
Valvertie took use through a great warm up that consisted of basic, very basic moves shrimps, rolls and falls.
Then he went on to show good takedowns from the clinch and cool ways to reestablish underhooks.
When someone has double underhooks, clasp both hands together and place your hands at their hands to stop the knees. As Nogueria told me keep your head up Squeeze your arms together and repumal to get the underhook.
Nogueria then showed a basic half guard pass. Very basic and not point in explaining. \
Biteti then showed a guard pass into a armbar. Stack up controling the head and sinking a underhook. Post up on both feet and pull them under you. Then stand up and get your feet closer together to keep your balance. Keeping your underhook, use the other hand to pop the ir knee and follow them down trapping their leg with your shin. Keeping the underhook use your free arm to push their head with your forearm. Keeping their leg trapped with your shin sprawl your other leg out and place that knee on the inner thigh. Spin for the armlock.
That was all the moves shown and then a hour and half of rolling with the blackbelts. Nog even rolled, good time.
Dallas/Ft. Worth is a hotbed of BJJ/grappling now. Along with the Nogueria Gym we have Guy Metzger, Carlos Machado and Travis Lutter. And those are the big names.
I meant it'd be nice to hear either more about the seminar or the gym
If someone wants to post an after action report on a seminar in DHS, that's fine, but only if it includes a description of technique, or a discussion of the instructors suggested ring strategy etc.
"Hey dudes, this was a cool seminar taught by insert grappling giant name here" does not meet that criteria.
And post video if possible.
