Just read a study in Men's Health I think, eating whole grains vs. refined, 2 groups, same calorie intake, both groups lost same amount of weight, but the whole-grainers lost much more belly fat. Insulin (body produces in response to sugars) makes you store belly fat.
*takes a deep breath*
I'm going to assume they didn't conduct the study themselves, but were citing someone else's work. If you're able to find the citation, I'd be grateful if you'd post it here so I could look up the source they're drawing from.
Also, this thread has a fair bit of information about insulin and its effects, although the focus thus far has been more on its effects on muscle than on fat.
So I generally wear baggy pants/shorts. My waist was a 40. I usually bought 42's and they were nice and loose but stayed on and sometimes if needed I used a belt. Now they just slide right off. Belt is a must now. Awesome.
Yeah, Men's Health isn't exactly in the business of conducting health research. I'll see if I can find it next time I am bored looking through magazines. I might be confusing it with another fine men's dirtsheet.
