Possible provable dates:
Third degree 'dan' Moo Shee Do black belt Kyung Ae Kim and her brother trained on a base in Korea in the 1960s. They all came here with her parents and husband Mark Fontaine in the 1970s through WA and the VT.
In about 1985 then Fontaine became a Grandmaster, not before then as she indicated. She got this title from one of many TKD foundations. In that same year those records mysterious vanished, allegedly burned up in a fire at her do jang offices. She then moved to Milpitas CA. She could have gone back to that foundation and purchased new credentials.
Another foundation and a series of 'troubles' fell upon her ATC school so that by 1989 she changed the name to Jung Suwon to cover it up, not to start afresh. The second foundation allowed her to promote SHS to master. MF was promoted in 1994.
In 1996 she was involved in a series of schemes 'pyramid companies' starting with IDN nutritionals, nuskin, and People's Network, which broadcast some of her show.
Then in 1998 she was exposed on the TV tabloid Inside Edition and on a local network for possibly running a cult, which h she denied.
Her pictures with celebrities are clearly airbrushed in. Her portrait shots are also heavily airbrushed.
Her articles including those in TKD times are in house, written by her staff or her friends and inner circle.
Her three books were initially said to be best sellers in many languages, but she purchased more copies than she sold, and urged her students to buy up any leftover copies at book signings. Silent Master was actually her only 'successful' book, which did sell as many as 5,000 units. (About 1,000 of those were student purchases).
Seven Steps to Inner Power was allegedly ghost written by a high level local writer and polished up by SHS.
In 2004 she was ousted from the Milpitas location after one too many shady 'renovations' and code violations. This comes from actual contractors at the time, one of which was a student.
In 2004 she tried to start another school in San Jose, which lasted 3 years, where she also tried vast remodeling jobs and to trick the city into letting her expand things and add extra bathrooms. The supervisors of the site and the contractors eventually gotr fed up and told her she had to leave.
Some junior black belts waited until the 2006 revelation of the Great Grandmaster Doctor Kim deal to rise in rank from black belt to their already assumed ranks of at least third dan.
Seven Steps (total published, approximate 5,000) cane first, then Silent Master, (total published, approximately 2,000, all to students), and last, Ki Energy (total published unknown).
She owned at least 3 houses and dubbed them College of Learning or City of Light, from 1987 roughly to 1998 roughly. She purchased Stargazer by 2000. Not sure on that but someone mentioned it before. Then she stopped using COL as a name but continued to 'do business as' energy training houses.
Her computer company, Lighthouse, began as a Christian game supplier in Vermont and a struggling software company after moving to CA. Some of her students were the founders and paid their own money to start the company.
Lighthouse went overseas to Korea and Malaysia also in the late 1990s and began calling itself Lighthouse worldwide solutions.
The list of TYK's actual accomplishment are greatly exaggerated. Most of the 'woman of achievement' type awards were given by her friends or students after a donation.
Allegedly she defrauded students, got sued and usually settled out of court, but some of her cases are clearly amazingly underhanded, like her plot to marry and then take the money of a man named Eccles because his family owned a lot of land in Utah. Then she was with at least two other men, including an Olympic hopeful athlete like Eccles named Giandomenico. They parted ways also, later in in 2007. Both men were rich and smart, but lured into her schemes with a promise of being Olympic heroes if she shows them the right energy.
Ex students that served in COL and for her company in the inner circle, were reportedly abused financially and emotionally, and on some occasions physically taunted and punished with strange dietary restrictions of they spoke out or acted rebellious in any way, challenging her authority. At least 15 ex students of COL have been on the web, everywhere and not just on BS. Those stories were well documented by at least a 8 other students, and while her PR crew tried to silence them and to put up multiple PR sites of their design, they failed. The students are still here.
At least 60 students were involved in COL and at least 200 in Lighthouse. The reason most don't speak out is they want to move on, or are afraid of being sued or confronted, or even embarrassed. In some cases former students have actually been harassed via emails and some local students have reportedly had vandalism done to their stuff. Those students believe that the 'scare tactics' are enough to keep them from actually going to the police and tossing those vandals in the slammer. They admit they'd have a hard time proving who actually did it (unless they left fingerprints). Some former students have been hacked or have been spotted near JSW and Lighthouse sites where JSW people took pictures of them. Nothing became of this. It was probably a scare tactic (so when they do that, have a camera ready to take theirs).
Is that a gist of it?
"The approximate number of students having gone through JSW by February 2007 was 3,213. Out of all of those, there surely were at least half of them that should come forward, a few others that should lie low, and only a small percentage that have moved on and have had no complaints."

A few corrections on the details Kittyki:
I do not believe her brother trained on a base. He is about six years younger than she and he would have been a teenager at that time. Also, as a civilian, I don't think training would have been allowed for non military personnel, but that's just my guess.
TYK's husband was Arthur L. Fontaine, not Mark Fontaine. He may have changed it when he moved to California.
Her parents and brother came after her...if what Art told me was the truth...that he paid lots of money to get them over here.
I have heard so many stories from the two of them, I don't know WTF to believe. Art said he worked for the CIA...a lie no doubt, since one does not speak of this ...ever...if they are employed by that agency.
To the ex students of TYK on this site. I encourage you to make your plight known all over the web. You tried this on occasion, but it could go viral. Every time they knock a site down, put up two more. If you are willing, there is nothing to stop you. Do not do anything illegal, but speak the truth openly. Contact the news media. Why not send local media some of the discussions? Especially tabloids like Enquirer and Inside Edition. Anonymity is key, but also keeping others from being snared into whatever COL has morphed into might save lives and souls!
Are there other blogs and boards for ex students to discuss TYK and COL? Do they still exist? If not, there should be new ones. The way the COL insiders have come back at you ex students on here is disgusting. Let their PR people scramble to try and figure out how it went viral one day and even the inner circle was opened freely to the truth.
Your stories must get out everywhere, just the ones that best reflect the true nature of TYK and her various sundry organizations, to the point that new awards will not be given, and even TKD Times refuses to answer her calls. It could happen someday.
And although I don't know them, there is a way to make wikipedia print whatever you want.
Those of you who stopped compiling the threads should go back and do it again. The wealth of info here should be known.
Hi Failed Student. So Mark is Art, even in the old book Silent Master which calls him Mark. Do other Vermont students know this, apart from you and Mr. Jacobs? If the allegations are true from all of these posters, then TYK come have one heck of a fraud case on her hands, going back to her very beginnings. You all aren't the only ones looking this site over. It is known. Maybe the webmaster of TKD times should be notified, not just with a rant, but an actual slew of documents stating for certain that the person they so put on their wonderful magazine covers is actually not at all what she claims to be, and everything seems to have started on day in Vermont 40 years ago when a US army man and his 'war bride' and her family came to the US and began to create what became eventually Jung SuWon, Lighthouse, and COL.
