weird stuff going on with my feet
Before I ask my question, here's my complete podiatric history, for your enjoyment:
For most of my young-person life, I've had weird feet. They're naturally wide and slightly flat. To compound the issue, when I was really young, they rolled in like a ************ and I was slightly pidgeon-toed. However, in like 5th grade I went to a podiatrist, who gave me $400 orthodic inserts for my shoes and sent me on my way. Wonderful. After about 4 years wearing inserts, the pidgeon-toed-ness had gone away entirely, and the overpronation was greatly reduced, until my brand new dog decided to take them from my shoe and devour one. My family couldn't afford another pair, so I left my feet alone for a while.
Finally, about three years ago I decided to go back and the doc gave me a temporary pair, which could be used for prolonged periods but he wanted to test some stuff out. The appointment, scheduled for two weeks in the future, never happened, and I wore the temporary inserts for about a year and a half. Finally, I decided "**** this it's not really helping much" so I ditched them, also because it was hard to find cool-looking sneakers that I could wear comfortably with the inserts. To this day I don't wear them.
Today, I have mild bunions, flat arches, and I still moderately overpronate. And I'm only 16. :blob8:
Now the problem(s?):
My metatarsals hurt. When I've been sitting down for a while and then get some kind of impact to my foot, like jumping up from typing this post and running to the phone, the tops of my feet hurt really really really bad. It's a sort of shooting pain originating in the tendon/bone/whatever that connects to my big toe, which makes walking agonizing for a second or two until it goes away. It also happens once in a while in TKD, although not as bad. It happens in both feet, although rarely simultaneously. This has been going on for probably two years.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?
It sucks and gets in the way. There's nothing quite like being temporarily crippled after a botched back kick.
