good idea or bad
today i took my old tkd chest sparing gear and straped it on to my heavy bag i put it so that the circle targets are at my head hight. I hit the side targets that are on the side of the bag with hooks and hit the center circle with jabs and crosses it also sticks out from the bag about three or four inches so that its perfect for getting hooks in rather then doing them infront of the bag
is this a good idea or should i take it off?
I don't see a problem other than any toughness you may have developed from hitting the bag itself won't happen.
well i do knuck push ups and when you do body shots your fists still hit the bag
use gloves when you hit the bag plz
dude forget the knuckle push ups. thats just fucking retarded.
take the gloves off and hit the bag thatll toughen your hands without giving your arthritus
yes, because knuckle pushups are clearly so much worse for you than bareknuckle bagwork.
yep. bags are soft, as opposed to cement. bags strengthen your wrists and get your hands used to the feeling.
and if the floor is soft then its just pointless anyway
knuckle pushups on a high density rubber mat will still increase the density of the bones of your hands, as the bones increase in density along lines of stress. as long as the bones are supporting your weight then you will get teh same effect. as for conditoning the skin, well doing them on wooden floors with some give in them will do that
"as the bones increase in density along lines of stress"
close, but not quite right, they actually increase in density along lines of trauma.
aka makiwaras/knuckle push ups on concrete/etc.
this is all well and good but it means your bones are fucked and by the time your 40 your bones are fucked.
you want to strengthen your wrists anyway, thats whats gonna be a long term injury as opposed to a broken knuckle.
my logic.. Option A) Thicker knuckles serving no purpose leading to cripple hands
Option B) Stronger wrists and hands reducing risk of injury and increasing power
