I knew of one many years ago, and I was too young to clue in on the important details. They guy was a student who was built like the veritable brick-**** house and, to my memory, broke the guy's spine.Quote:

If I am dumb enough to pull a gun, put it up against you, then launch into a Villian's Soliloquy, . . . okay.
I forget the name of the exercise, but it involves a knife versus a gun. At a certain distance, the knife guy invaribly "gets" you before you can draw and shoot.
As I write this, one I do know, now that I think of it, comes from a former-police officer and martial artist who makes the point of distance. He will do this to police he is working with in which he states he will "shoot" the guy before he can react. At a close range, difference of the fact he is initiating an attack with a gun first "beats" the guy standing there.
So what is the point of that? His is that for any defense to work you have to be prepared to do it in time and expect the unexpected--they guy can pull a weaon and use it before you mentally know what is happening.
That being blathered, as others put it, gun defenses are desperations. As with the military, you would prefer to not be in the situation, but since you are in it you might as well have some "plan" even if it is pathetic! The danger comes from those thinking they would want to be in the situation since they have "t3h d34dly skilz" to get out of it!
