Well, this is pretty much the root of everything that got me into hating fraud. I was unlucky enough to grow up in a Pentacostal family and subjected to thousands of hours of exposure to america's most popular snake oil salesmen: Evangelists.
Say what you want about religous freedom and tolerance... but this **** is just stupid. I've never been subjected to a worse load of bull crap. "Don't take your kid to a doctor! Take him to Church!!!", and assorted similar bullshit was raining down on my head from the time i was a toddler to the time I was old enough to tell my parents to stick it. So if you're absolutely bored one day, and want to see the weirdest example of group think and mass hysteria then look no further than your local United Pentacostal Church. Enjoy.

[troll] what? thousands of hours and you never learned to spell pentecostal?[/troll]
I'm sorry you had to put up with that kind of junk. That is the kind of stuff that gives mainstream Christianity a bad name.
Well, it's been nearly two decades since then, and you're right. I don't blame mainstream christianity at all. I still attended my grand dad's Baptist church for awhile, mostly because the preacher at the time had a fairly decent education. That all stopped when they changed minister's and the new guy had a fondness for making distinctly racist jokes with one of the other deacon's, aside from his almost total lack of scholarly approach. The "hellfire and brimstone" approach was the rule of the day then. Selling christianity as fire insurance didn't sit right with me either.
I was schooled by the wretched evil penguins of the jesuit controlled sisters of the divine providence so I reached my BS tolerence level with religious zealots as a kid.
