It has taken me a little while to get used to BJJ because of the close in grappling thing. I like to stand up and keep more distance from my opponent standing just out of range forcing him to extend outward with a kick or punch or grab.
When I started with BJJ the guys get a little frustrated and we spend time dancing around with me moving around and them not engaging. So, in order to get training out of it I have to let them enter that sphere I normally try and keep them out of until they commit and start from a grab or clinch.
Starting on knees does take some of that away and allows for that part of the fight to be isolated.
One of my buds yesterday got hurt. He is a freestyle wrestler and we were going at it good...even started on the ground. I had him in guard, moved to spider guard then flipped him over my head. Never thought about him not being able to correctly breakfall! rolled his ankle because he doesn't know how to breakfall. Guy is great wrestler too!
Gotta be careful about really understanding the capabilities of your buds. I felt bad since I was the more experienced guy and could have prevented that from happening with a little more awareness.
How is what waikioff not funny?
It would have been a little better if he'd dropped in a southern affectation and phrased "bless your heart precious".
Still pretty good thouhg.
