Catch Wrestling Alliance
Have any of you seen this? sorry, I would post a link to the website but my post count is too low,but it . Seems to be quite a straightforward rule set which places a great deal of importance on dominant positioning which could make for an interesting watch. The twenty minute time limit with no points system does make me wonder how many unclear finishes there will be, and also how dominance without a pin will be ignored. Any of you have any thoughts on this?
Rules are here:
"SUBMIT OR PIN TO WIN
Each match will be contested in a single match with a 20 minute time limit. There are no time outs.
The referee will signal a pin."
Interesting idea. And its also interesting to me that there seems to be no chokes/strangles.
I'm gonna challenge someone at a BJJ school and then claim I won by pinning them.
Edit: Not a criticism, I just think that would make for an hilarious after-exchange.
No knee locks?

I suppose this isn't specific to the Catch Wrestling Alliance, specifically (redundantly redundant), but I just hosted an ISWA catch wrestling tournament at my gym in Austin, and it was a fantastic ruleset. Very similar to the rules above.
Because of the threat of pinning and discouraging guard play, you are forced to keep moving and not be lazy, so the matches were FUCKING PHENOMENAL from a spectator's POV. I don't know why anyone would want to wrestle any other way.
That makes sense to me, since catch was a spectator sport/carnival show back in the day. Seems like they would want to keep it exciting.
