Bare Knuckle Boxing: see me fight on live PPV on Dec 3rd!
So... There's a new sport in town. It's crazier than MMA but less crazy than Hip Show (2-v-2 Parkour-Tudo), and that sport is BARE KNUCKLE BOXING!*
In an effort to make boxing more exciting, they're holding these matches in a small circle inside of a bowl (think YAMMA or World Combat League), they're starting the matches with the competitors within reach of one another, and they removing the pillow from the pugilists' knuckles. Furthermore, the bouts will be broken up into eight 2-minute rounds with one minute in between. So with minimal protection, shorter bouts, and no place to run, you can expect a brutal series of face-punching contests!
Here's their first event:
Because this is a very new sport and it's fairly unappealing to most competitors, yours truly was offered a spot on the card despite having no professional boxing experience.
The fight is December 3rd at The Verizon Center in Manchester, NH. I'll be fighting Marc Torres -- an experienced amateur boxer with a 2-1 pro record. While the experience differential doesn't bode well for me, I should have a considerable size advantage since I cut weight to make 135 and he is coming up in weight. Plus. I have more experience striking with small gloves, and it really does make a difference when you shed the boxing mittens.
Order the PPV and check me out!
*Bare Knuckle Boxing (BKB) has custom made gloves that are 5-8 oz, which have a strip cut out to keep the knuckles bare. It is bare-knuckleee only in the most literal sense. We will still be wrapping our wrists and have support from the gloves.
