Chen Xiang Videos
While it's my general policy to post only sparring and competition clips here, I thought it would be worth posting these application and technique explanation videos from Chen Xiang because they're so much better than most of what's out there. Mr Chen trained shuaijiao for the first 30 years of his life, after which he took up bajiquan and Hunyuan ("practical method") taijiquan. He's around 62 years old in these videos.
Some explanations of how push hands maps to applications with strikes:
(regarding using Peng for kuzushi: "It cannot go unanswered, and if you give me the wrong answer I'll send you down [throw you].")
Spanish seminar with intermittent Spanish subtitles:
(demo starts ~1:10, includes some nice clinch fighting and takedowns, moves to jacket wrestling at 2:55 or so)
A seminar from Madrid (voiceover in lispy Castillian Spanish):
(demo starts at 0:53, lots of taiji style kuzushi)
No, that rule only applies to the Sparring thread. Post any good videos you see.
I wasn't thinking of it as an externally imposed rule. Rather, it has has been my goal to provide a counterexample for those who believe hard training, sparring and competing isn't CMA.
