The first Captain America movie suffered a bit because it had to be tied with the Avengers plot line, and because they pussed out and went with HYDRA instead of Nazis. Those Cosmic Cube Weapons made the dieselpunk less cool.
I have to say, though, so far I'm digging The Trial of the Incredible Hulk.
The Red Skull is tied to the Cosmic Cube, like The Infinity Gauntlet is tied to Thanos. So, for me, tying it to the Avengers is what irritated me. That and changing it from a wish fulfilling device to a tesseract.
I'm really not sure how I feel after watching the trailer. It has its moments, but something about it bothers me. Like they're trying to cram in so many "badass" things into the movie that they're going to hit critical mass and become stupid instead.
Well that was the problem I had with it. They turned the Cube into a MacGuffin of sorts and sullied the dieselpunk feel they could've gone for by having their tanks shoot blue lasers.Quote:

The production design in general was really underwhelming and half-arsed, I thought. Awesome glowing valves and relays should have abounded, but instead it was this completely generic Hollywood SciFi ****. The whole thing went to basically tedious action-mode after the first half and other than the train bit the choreography was crap.
I liked it. I dig all of these new movies that have been coming out.
