Spending and lack of proper oversight over the bloated government agencies are a big part of the reason we're in the state we find ourselves today. Granted, two wars and our military budget were/are a big addition to the sum total, but we're still in a budget deficit of what, over $600,000,000,000.
The Treasury is taking in record revenue and that clock linked earlier added over 300billion in one day.
Government is the issue. It's not likely to be fixed anytime soon, but reigning in overspending can happen now. There's no will on either side due to pandering for votes.
It does not take a complete restructure to find savings in a bloated budget.
Here is a chart for 2014 in a per capita representation.
the Federal Government spends $11,820.7 per individual in the US but only collects 9492.2 per individual.
Problem is if you go down the list of things its hard to find real cuts that are not going to have a much bigger negative effect. Cutting 2,328.5 per person is very difficult.
On top of that we have about 57,093.9 of debt accumulated per individual.
The solution has to come from raising revenues. No one wants to pay more taxes. What you need to do is strengthen the economy so that extra $2,328.5 per person is done organically. The only way to really get our economy going again like it was in the past is we have to start manufacturing things again. We can not have a long term economy built on consumer spending that is an entropic economic model.
So what is the reality of all this spending?
Hmmmm. Shockingly, the numbers don't agree with the frothing right's current assertions.
Who would have thought cutting taxes and increasing spending would affect the books eh? That came out of nowhere, didn't it?
Shoot, we doubled the military budget, and now it's twice the size! Whodathunk that **** would happen?
Government isn't supposed to make a profit, but it is money-in/money-out. Modern American Conservatism has failed ordinary basic math.
Is there anything you do like about the man? He does have better hair than Nixon...you gotta give him that.
Obama has them just as much as Bush did; the reason he's not spewing money the way Bush did is that Bush got a lot more cooperation from Congress in pushing his agenda.
Fact is, whether or not you believe or disbelieve of what I do, you cannot find anything positive about the ACA, that creates a dire need to keep it. Nothing. Yet daily the 'walls keep tumbling down all around the act know as ObamaCare'
So keep up your bucket pushing, side to side efforts on linoleum and slurping the purple juice of socialism from the cup of lies the admin has set before you. Fool.
Where I digress from him are his policies, that I also hear are mainly not his own, which he admits- the Romney care he alleges HIS plan copied, the R's fucked up plan he said would not work and Hillary care, which he is careful to bring into a discussion.
I would not pass up an opportunity to have a meal with him, as long as he is buying. But donate to his cause, I regret to inform, the answer would be...no.
