UFC 157 Results: Carmouche does the Fandango, Comes Up Short
UFC 157 ended with thunderbolts and lightning as Ronda Rousey defended her UFC Women's title against Liz Carmouche by armbar with seconds to go in the first round. Carmouche threatened early by taking Rousey's back and sinking in a face crank, but Rousey slid out and eventually ended up in a scarf hold from which she transitioned into the submission.
Carmouche nearly made it out of the round and put up a serious effort against the heavily-favored women's champion.
In the sub-main event, Lyoto Machida eeked out split decision against Dan Henderson in a close, but dull fight. Machida spent most of the fight backing up and looking to counter, while Henderson tried winging his noted right hand several times.
In other fights, Urijah Faber sunk in a standing, back-mounted, rear naked choke against Ivan Menjivar in the first round.
