Alright, guys, I plan to go to my first training tomorrow at 12:30.
Maybe again on Saturday, and I'd really love to make it to the Sunday open mat from 1PM, I just wouldn't want to miss the plane... :-)
I am dropping those who expressed interest a PM with my phone number so as to be able to call/text each other - I have no Internet/e-mail on my cell phone...
By the way, Louis CK rocked the (almost) full O2 arena yesterday and I am looking forward to see him again today at the Hammersmith Apollo... :-D
Saturday no-gi sounds like a plan. Looks like £12 walk-in fee. Anyone else going to be around? (Other than Tonu)
This is one of the things that Bullshido is all about. Getting together and sparring.
I heartily approve.
I've done this 4 or 5 times (it's a meet up, not a throwdown) and it's always been fun.
I hope to one day be able to get choked by you guys over the Big water... :-)
I have some plans that might result in just that, maybe even this year.
Doofaloofa, I did it (took off the jacket to take the picture):
It was a pain in the ass to find the Mill Hill BJJ school for me, as a foreigner, for the first time...
Of course I sat on the wrong train - and I want to make clear that is totally not only my fault, as the trains are really NOT marked in a way that would make it clear for everyone where they are going and more importantly, where they are stopping...
So I went waaaay farther than I was supposed to, had to catch a train back to M.H.Broadway...
And ultimately arrived about half an hour later to class, which sucks, luckily Nick was OK with that... Kubo was there as well, from Bratislava, currently working in London and training with Nick. Daniel Strauss aka Raspberry Ape was there too, lifting weights - I only recognised his face, he put on so much muscle compared to last summer, when he visited Bratislava... A beast, technically, and now with more power... :-)
I changed, did a fast warmup, drilled for a second with Kubo a series of armbar escapes, then sparring ensued...
I rolled with several blue and purple belts, two Steves and a Daniel, who put his right arm into the gi jacket, I asked him if he's injured, but couldn't really understand his answer - either way, he went on to basically smash me with a single hand... At one point I thought he broke my nose, as he stepped over my face and work through some position and I heard the cartilage in my nose make strange noises as he pressed his leg across my face... There was no blood though, he apologised, stuff like that happens...
Back tomorrow for some no gi with Daniel Strauss.
Fuzzy got back to me, should be rolling with him as well tomorrow...
I came, I saw, I tapped, and tapped, and tapped.
Great meetup, great skills(on his part), good times.
Good to read. Enjoy yourself and please pass my compliments to Seymour (Brown Belt). He knows me.
I was doing Padwork, Conditioning and Cardio (usual Saturday class). I'm now on Tea and Chocolate (mmmm, chocolate - say it like Homer Simpson). Tomorrow, I've a Cane Seminar in Kent under my old sensei.
As for the effing snow....
Anyway, I may get to Nick Brooks' before I get too old....
Sorry guys. I didn't get back in to the UK until 0540hrs this morning.
