Don't you think that's a little ahead of the curve for someone who hasn't had to think about PEMDAS in over half a decade? I'd be up all night reasearching and refreshing to puzle that out.
My experience had more to do with acoustic engineering and the problems were very simple.
I.E., Helmoltz Wave Traps:
Speed of sound / frequency = Wavelength Wavelength /4 = trap length (The equation can be reversed to determine frequency from wavelength as well.)
The trap reflects a standing wave 180 dgress out of phase with itself canceling the offending frquency and it's octaves. Easy peasy. Not hypothetical. That is what I was talking about.(Where on earth do you get a two dimentional truss?)
But go ahead and call me stupid for not being fresh on math which I haven't needed since 2004.
The reason the answer is 1 is because there are two parenthesis operations in the original, not one.
6/2(2+1) = 6 / 2(3) = 1
is not
6/2*(2+1) = 9
