I ran my first back in Sept in the northern california tough mudder. The two points that I was not expectecting 1.) Dealing with being cold...I could climb the walls etc, but all the obstacles after going through freezing cold water were unbelievably difficult. Usually, by the time I warmed up, it was time for another freezing obstacle. and 2.) Squaw Valley had so much altitude change, it really was impossible to run. I have good cardio, but thinking back, alot of high angle hiking ,both up and down, would have been a better choice. I suppose that depends on the location of the tough mudder I suppose...
And btw, they said 10-12 miles, but it was really 13 miles after we got there.
Thats why I am doing it in northern Ohio! Though its going to be damn cold in mid April. Could easily snow.
Since getting wet is guaranteed do you know of any way to stay warm, or fabrics that dry really quickly?
Dealing with the unexpected is probably just part of the fun.
I don't know of anway to stay warm, the only thing I could think of was to cheat and bring a towel inside a garbage bag, but that just ruins the point.
