To be more serious, what I really meant was that in my experience, Ki Aikido has differentiated itself by its emphasis being so strongly about self development. Often to the extent where that becomes a means to itself, rather than Martial Arts being that means.
As Aikikai Aikido seems to be heading further and further down that path (particularly in the US mainstream if what I see online is any guide), I wonder if there will be any difference at all down the line.

Gah! that was the one I was originally looking for, but my Google-fu failed me.
My point was, that they ARE hippies by and large and I've never seen them be anything else. I have trained with a handful of Ki-Aikidoka who I thought had good attitudes however, if you're around them long enough, in the end the hippy tree-hugging surfaces.
Regarding skirts, if some of the aikibabes I've seen had been wearing mini skirts I'd have probably quit Judo and done aikikai.
