Freelance writer, marketing intelligence consultant, and sometimes a college instructor (speech, English, theater) when I need some stable income

Martial Arts Experience:

I was a classic "brown belt bum" for about 25 years because I moved about every 5, and then would get busted back to white at the new place, work my way up, and be a first or second degree brown in something or other by the time I moved again. My original art was judo and I still think like a judoist; someplace around I think I still have a USJF card for a brown belt in that. Finally settled in Denver at an independent school I like that seems to be minimal BS; they teach Shin Goju Ryu, so that's what I ended up with a black belt in (they tell me I earned it; I suspect it's time in grade!) A couple characters in my book series are martial artists.
