- Martial Arts Experience:
- Started doing traditional martial arts when I was ten years old. It was I style that resembled a mix between kickboxing, TKD, and a little bit of BJJ/Judo (which I didn't know at the time 'cause it was in the early 90's). I did this for four years, it was mostly worthless katas, so needless to say it I didn't learning much of practical value. The conditioning was great and I was very flexible but I'm still bitter that my folks didn't get me into something worthwhile, like wrestling or Judo.
I had a few months training Muay Thai when I was 20, but had to quit when my car got stolen, so I didn't get too far in with that.
Got involved with a club at my school (ASU) when I was 24 called American Pankration. It was basically an MMA school and the techniques I was taught were pretty sloppy compared to where I'm at now, but it was still a good introduction to basic positions, subs, sweeps, TD's and punch/kick combos. I did that for a semester.
