Martial Arts Experience:

I wanted to take Karate because I was the scrawny weakling/loser of my class. I lost to a fight, so that encouraged me to keep training. I got into Bruce Lee (like many others) and his philosophies and began amateur weight lifting. Within a couple a years, I gained 30 pounds, and people respect me in a way (but not that I was an arrogant badass). I then started to watch some UFC videos. Before the time I had hardly any respect for mixed martial arts, but my view completely changed. I had ignorant thoughts like, "I'll just kick the guy in the head if he comes close to tackel me." I thought to myself,"Wow, other than streetfighters and soldiers, they are the most complete fighters in the world!" I wanted to take my training to next level. I began Kyokushin Karate and did bareknuckle sparring. However, i really disliked kata, and going by the book mostly because I adopted Bruce Lee's philosophy of "absorb what is useful, discard what is not." Really, who else dislikes kata othe
