- I started a really bare and rudimentary kung fu training when I was very young, as long ago as I remember, from my father.
At the age of 10 I started at Kojo Academy of Taekwondo in Williston, VT. We train in a very simple and traditional way, the goal being practical self defense and personal improvement. My interest in MMA is really born out of my own inclinations more than my TKD training, but there are pieces of it that translate into MMA very well.
I also competed a lot in my healthy youth, was the 2002 New England AAU 16-17 Heavyweight Black Belt Champion in the same year I got 5th at the 2002 AAU National Championships, also placed 3rd at the 1999 AAU Nationals in the 16-17 Middleweight Advanced. Countless 1st and 2nd place medals in tournaments all over the north east.
Half-assed Wrestling in high school. Grew up in an area that is HUGE into wrestling so while I am no wrestling prodigy I can sprawl like a mofo.
