Began training in Taekwondo 1993 under Master Jose Castro in Athens, Ga. The Majority of the time was spent in the International Taekwondo Council, an organization of mostly west coast schools founded by Master Wade Vierra. Trained until 1998 when I received a 1st dan BB. I then moved to Baltimore Maryland where I studied Soo Shim Hosinsul, which turned out to be a very McDojoish KF style, but I did still manage to learn quite a lot as far as the principles of joint manipulation and was able to improve my hand speed and really learn to punch, which I had neglected previously. In 2001 I returned to Athens and trained in TKD with Master Chang Bae Yi for a year. Then I trained with Master Couch at the UGA Taekwondo club for a few months, then with the UGA Aikido club, and the UGA Capoeira club. In 2003 I moved to Deland Florida and ended up taking classes from Shaun Racki (McDojo).
I then returned to Athens and began training with Master Castro again, after a philosophical disagreement I made the transition over to Submission Grappling (No-Gi BJJ) under Adam and Rory Singer of the Hardcore Gym where I trained for 2 years. Due to a desire to pursue BJJ in the Gi and my personal focus on grappling more than MMA I moved to Megalodon where I've been training under BJJ Blackbelt Casey Baynes since March of 2009.
