Martial Arts Experience:

Boxing for 17 years (and still no good at it!).

Irish cudgel/stick for a few years - in a private study group, and also shown a few dirty tricks by grandpappy! I make shillelaghs from orange osage and oak, and I am experimenting with eucalypts

I am fascinated with Western Martial Arts in general, enjoy hard sparring with singlestick and knife. I love to study military combatives, and have been lucky enough to train over time with a Czech Special Forces guy, a couple of US Marines, A British Para, some Filipino ex-army dudes (we worked in a laundry and sparred during lunch - good times!), and of course, Australian Army guys.

I like Kelly McCann's combatives system, and enjoy the historical (WW2) systems like Perringard's, Applegate's and Fairbairn's.
