Thanks! My wife & I plan to look at the JKD (Kala) place the forum users told us about
(She is reading the message thread too)
Trinity AL is in the Huntsville / Decatur area.

There is nothing wrong with BJJ at all. In fact, I would urge you to read any and all jnp and Omega's posts about BJJ, from the self-defense standpoint. These two gentlemen have an incredible training history and a realistic insight into training BJJ for sport and training BJJ for self-defense applications.

I'm not giving YOU, personally, ****, it's just the story. It plays into humor quite easily.

My style? Currently I have been training Chinese Kempo for the past 5-6 yrs.
Before that, TKD, HKD and Boxing.

Martial Arts Experience:
I studied Washin-Ryu as a child in Elmira, NY. This form had very little real world functionality but it sparked my interest in the martial arts. My uncle James Tress was a student of Yamada Shihan at NY Aikikai. I began adapting this form at the age of 7 and continued for the next ten yrs. When I was 13 I began to assist in instruction and at 17 yrs old I was teaching classes to beginners and assisting with exhibitions. When I was 24 I began to assist in training grappling and implementing the skills from Aikido. Today I assist in Teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at a few small venues in AL in general as part of an outreach program for troubled adolescents.
