Bj v.s Edgar 3? I know Bj is super pissed/agitated right now. who knows when this rematch will happen though.

I'm incredibly happy Randy won! that shut all the "boxing is dominate, MMA is no technique" people up! HAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!! Victory is ours :D!!! wooooo!!!!!~~~~!!!!!!!!!!

No rematch this time. This was a clear domination from Edgar, BJ has to go to the end of the line and fight his way back like everyone else.

In other news, here's what happens when you mess with the 209.

BJ needs new people in his corner.

He was getting his ass kicked and the only thing they said was "Go at him. Take this back. Go after him" instead of telling him "stop fucking around and take this fight the ground. You're not going to outbox him so stop wasting your time or you're gonna loose this **** AGAIN".

I guess that's what happens when you surround yourself with sycophants.

Edgar won the first fight (i still cant understand all the BJ nutriders who think he was robbed) this time round Edgar dominated. The guy showed superb head movement, accurate striking, a decent ground game and excellent cardio.

It's a good day for MMA. Toney got exactly what most of us hoped/expected would happen.

I never doubted Randy, and mostly felt bad for Toney for even being in a place he has no business in.

I was really surprised by the outcomes of both BJ-Edgar and Kenflo-Maynard, I thought BJ would tear Frankie apart, but it's like he was tired and kept looking for thebig KO.
As for Kenny, that was just kind of sad.

This is so true. Your better than him your stronger than him you can beat him. That pep talk wins in van damme movies. Real fighters should get real advice.

BJ needs to rid himself of the delusion that he's a boxer. Yeah, he's got heavy hands and a solid chin, but in the grand scheme of things he's not a superb boxer. If he'd stop thinking about the highlight reel, he'd do better.

Holy **** where did Maynard come from? I mean, I knew that he was good but not that he was top flight yet. He sure corrected that misunderstanding last night.

And I can't describe Toney's performance in any terms other than "he looked like a drunk bum". Wow, I mean I know Randy is a takedown artist, but Toney was so untrained that he didn't even make a sincere attempt to put a foot behind himself after being put on his ass.

BJ looked really focused at the outset..and even though I don't like him I was thinking maybe Edgar would have his hands full. But it was not to be, he really had no answer and looked disinterested after the first round..I also want to give credit to Penn for being humble - much more humble than we are used to seeing him. But its not like he had much choice this time around.
As far as the Florian fight goes, I am wondering if maybe Kenny was injured? Because he didn't look as sharp as he usually does. Not to take anything away from Maynard - he fought a great match and impressed me with his takedowns. That man is a good wrestler and he seemed very determined, so good for him.
The Diaz fight was probably the best for stand- up action. The swelling on Davis' face was brutal !
As far as the Toney thing goes..I already did my gloating on the other thread..but I hope people don't make too much of this whole 'Boxing vs. MMA' thing, because the the short order of it is this - Boxing is just one facet of MMA and anyone with any brains knows that that one facet is not enough to defeat a solid MMA fighter. If you go into MMA with JUST grappling, you stand a better chance than someone with JUST Boxing..but MMA is multi faceted and therefore superior to Boxing as an overall fighting style. That joke of a bout last night was a foregone conclusion to anyone who really knows about fighting and knew anything at all about the fighters involved. Only the truly naive really though Toney had anything more than a puncher's chance. And considering he hasn't KO'd anyone since 2004 - there wasn't much chance of him pulling off an upset. The guy is a damn disgrace as far as I am concerned.
Also nice to see J-Lau make quick work of his opponent too.

I have said all along that Toney was really only in this for the money and as far as I am concerned that just proved it. He couldn't have trained seriously at all or that wouldn't have happened.
Toney's joke of a performance made Kimbo look like a champ in comparison. At least Kimbo made an honest effort to learn some ground fighting and obvously trained very hard to get in shape.

That corner was terrible. Its almost like they were trying not to bruise Penns ego by insinuating that he is LOSING THE FUCKING FIGHT.

As for Toney, I could have given the same performance against Randy that he did.

I did hear his corner men tell him to take it to the ground. But they were not forceful enough with him...they needed to have some sense of urgency in their voices.

Some random thoughts:

-Joe Lauzon is an ANIMAL. Glad to see that he's shaken off the ring rust and back to 100% after his knee surgery. Plus he's a former Bullshido admin... how can anyone from this forum NOT cheer for him?

-After the beatdown he took from Nate Diaz, Marcus Davis's face looked like something out of the Mos Eisley Cantina.

-Florian didn't look anything like his usual self last night. Injury? Bad weight cut? Who knows. Anyway, props to Gray Maynard for winning, his rematch with Edgar should be interesting.

-Good grappling on display by Demian Maia. Some people got restless and stepped out during the fight where I saw it, but I was thoroughly entertained.

-Although I've never seen any of James Toney's previous fights and can't comment on his prowess in the boxing ring, I can only say that the dude is a fucking embarrassment when it comes to fighting in MMA. The man didn't do ANYTHING besides flop around like a beached whale; the fight was undoubtedly the easiest in Randy Couture's MMA career. If Toney really wants to keep fighting in MMA, the only place I see him competing in the next year is in Japan against the likes of Hong Man Choi or Ikuhisa Minowa.

-I thought for sure that BJ was going to get his revenge against Frankie Edgar in spectacular fashion, but clearly that didn't happen. I guess Frankie really does have "The Answer." Wow.

Also, I found Randy's short trunks mildly upsetting. Perhaps part of his strategy was distracting Toney with his exquisitely-shaped package?
