Damn, it is really getting late here and I cannot keep my eye-lids open any more but I want to ask my fellow bullies an important question.

I am a re-born judo-believer after wasting many years with _ing _chun and some other meaningful striking endeavors like JKD and KB. That said I am recently fascinated by Judo and am appaled at times how effective it can be employed, also for LEOs and the like.

I have, as of now, the possibility to reach some decision-makers and top brass politicians of my city, and nowadays I am trying to develop a personal project of teaching judo to police officers, guardians etc. I am sure that if pimped properly, this thing will be accepted and endorsed by these affluent people and so I will have made a modest contribution to the promotion of judo, which is really kinda neglected here.

Let me add that I shall not be the teacher, for I am nothing but a bloody noob. For that, there will be enough blackbelts and a few brown belts around.

Having written all these, in order to better express myself in my project presentation, I definitely need some help from you, my fellow judoka.

It will be great to be able write a few paragraphs as regards why it should thought that Judo is THE martial art to pick for this program. Of course I have my own ideas, which BTW owe their existence to that fortunate event, in which I got to know this awesome website.
BUT I would be indebted to hear your learned opinions on judo and why judo might help an officer.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for reading.

While untrue; the pubic perception of Judo is that it is a DEFENSIVE art that can control a person with very little injury. In terms of a promotional piece, there is your focus.

being an olympic sport. while not specific to LEOs, selling the idea that kids of early age can get involved and grow and train to be olympic 'heroes' will appeal to a lot of folks. the future of judo, or any sport, is in the kids.

First you need to research the use of force laws for the department you are trying to market too. Then you need to research the techniques that are allowed by law in responding to these use of force scenarios. Then show where judo fits into the mix. When I went through the academy, we spent the majority of the time practicing hip throws, leg sweeps, re-directions, and other stuff that came strait from judo. So you may be preaching to the choir. We also did kickboxing.

So you may not really need to do anything with their training other than offer classes to the officers when they get out of training. That is the biggest problem: practicing something in training and then never again.
