I was just watching UFC Wired when I saw Karo Parisyan pull of two beautiful Judo throws.

It made me think how often, if at all, people win MMA fights using a Judo or Wrestling throw.

I'm very new to MMA so I don't have any idea. Does anyone know?

I don't know about won, but there was Dan Severn's suplexing of Anthony Macias (great guy, still active in the MMA world) back in UFC IV.

oh yeah that's a point. Gray Maynard ko'd himself with his slam, but it was a NC cos the other guy tapped from it.. my bad

i've seen a fight finished via sprawl...

edit: pete spratt vs jason von flue. von flue shoots, spratt sprawls, von flue's head hits the mat. took a second for anybody to realize the poor bastard was ktfo. spratt's speech was hilarious.

My first MMA fighter won his first fight with harai goshi in :29. Dude landed on his forehead and was out like a light. Woke up with a softball sized knot on his head.

No video or anything but I assure you it happened. It was at a small event in Hammond LA in early 2005.

Joe Riggs lost a match after getting tossed and some ribs broken IIRC.

Hughes slamming Newton to KO. That's a pretty famous one.

Lindland and Maynard KOing himself.

Tito KOing Evan.

Jackson did a pretty brutal slam in Pride knocking some dude out. I forget who.

Another I can't remember but it's not a throw. I think it was a brazilian BJJer being takedown and with very poor ukemi he busted his joint and tapped out. It was Pride fight.

I think in case of Jackson and Tito it was more unintentional headbutt during the slam on the way down and suddenly stopping by hitting the matt or bouncing off the matt and bumping heads

The Rampage slam was to Ricardo Arona.

^ This one is one of my all time favorite Ko's.

It's also a big reason why I like doing Harai Goshi so much - now if it only worked when I tried pulling it off in randori.

Make sure you are sweeping BELOW the knee.

Yes it worked, but the throw in the video is poor form....

Also, work very hard on Uki Goshi. Really get the ability to slam your hip in there. Now you have O uchi/Ko Uchi, Harai Goshi and Uchi Mata..

The real Judo concept is to attack; if they can't defend, you throw them with your attack. When they defend the attack you have your off balance to throw them with your follow up.

The book "Attacking Judo" is a must have.
