I don't know if this is in the right place or if it needs to be moved to MABS, but I came across this and thought you guys should know. I searched for this guy on bullshido and didn't see this posted yet, but I did see a lot of other serious bullshit from a few years ago. Anyways, here it is:
Martial arts Master Christian Whitney of NJ has challenged NY Governor David Paterson to a public debate regarding the legalization of the cage fighting sport known as MMA. The debate will cover all negative traits developed in the sport.
(I-Newswire) January 19, 2010 - On January 18, 2010 Martial arts Master Christian Whitney of New Jersey sent a formal letter challenging NY Governor Paterson to a public debate. This debate is regarding why the Governor feels the sport should be made legal and if he is aware of all of the negative traits that are developed in the practitioners. Master Whitney is concerned that the Governor’s knowledge of the sport is one sided and that he hasn't heard the voice of the people who are against legalizing the sport. He is more specifically concerned if the Governor is aware of the negative facts that the sport’s promoters hide so diligently. This will certainly be a very controversial debate, should the Governor accept.
The debate would also be focusing on if it is simply being considered for revenue to the state without concern of the people or anything else. Gov. Paterson was informed that a press release would be made and that the public would be awaiting a reply. No statement from the Governor's office has been made as of this time.
Hmm I wonder why he's against it..could it be it takes away from his bottom line?

Wow so now we are begging the question in news stories? "Are you aware of all the negative traits developed by MMA" is a such a bullshit question in every way it shouldn't merit a response beyond an upraised finger.
Also, look at this buttlord with his 10th dan and his preference to be called "master" instead of "sifu" or "grand master"

Master Christian began his Martial arts training in 1975 in Isshinryu karate at The Tigers Eye Dojo in Belle Mead, NJ. Master Christian has trained with some of the worlds best instructors in Jeet Kune Do, Pencak Silat, Aikido & Ninjutsu and has also trained in numerous other Martial arts & healing arts such as Chin-Na, Wing Chun, Pa Kua Kung Fu, Praying Mantis Kung Fu, Chi Kung, Dim Mak (pressure points), Jujitsu, Miu Hin 18 Daoist palm (Iron Palm) and Shiatsu massage. Master Christian is a daily practitioner of Zazen Meditation and a philosopher. He is a pioneer in re-introducing the true Martial arts to the world and takes a reality based approach to self defense!
So we've got:
-Isshinryu
-Martial art he made up and made himself grandmaster of
-Martial art that no one has ever heard of and has suspiciously fake sounding name
-Wing Chun
-Ninjutsu
-Aikido
-Silat
-"healing arts"
God damn. It's like a laundry list of bullshit systems.
If I lived in New Jersey, I'd saddle my horse and ride on his dojo.
Then I'd ride fast as I could to anywhere but New Jersey.

Ah if I was in New York and knew when this **** was going down. I would make a ton of flyers hi-lighting all of the benefits of MMA fighting and hand them out to people as they came in.
you can tell it's not a commercial school because he doesn't charge commercially viable prices! That's the ticket.
Don't you guys know training has more spiritual meaning when you have to sacrifice all your material goods for it?

Christian Whitney is a coward and a thin skinned nitwit. He's just going to spout nonsensical bullshit about honor, tradition, budo and whatever else he can pull out of his ass. He will not bring a well researched argument but a one sided cluster **** of statistics that only serve to help disguise his whining idiocy.

I've never seen ANYTHING cost as much as this guy's classes. Twice a week for $640 a month? Anybody want to bet he pads out half his classes with calisthenics? You might actually be paying 50 cents a jumping jack at that rate.
Brilliant job at specifically prohibiting any exposure to alive training.
I also like the idea of making people write to him in their own words. It reminds me of testimonial time in Christian Science churches.
EDIT: Wait, I just read Squerli's link. This guy thinks that Miyamoto Musashi was both Shogun AND Emperor? That's like four different errors in three words. He has to be ignorant not only of who Musashi was, but also of what Shoguns and Emperors were.
It would also cost you several dollars to have him tell you that in person.

WOW. Really? I'm still trying to figure out this guy's point. That martial arts shouldn't be about winning/losing/fighting? That he's looking to build a crusade against the "evil of competitions and sports?"
Can we get some people to infiltrate and subvert this thing? Just kidding...

Well, that's what these guys believe, isn't it?

What a cocksucker
"These are special programs offered at sports oriented schools. It usually costs between $3,000.00 to $5,000.00. The deceitful instructors will claim to teach your son or daughter until they achieve black belt status, no matter how long it takes or how old they are. I'm sorry to say that the susceptible people who enroll their children in these programs are being taken advantage of. Their child will make black belt in 12 months, will begin to develop distorted, truculent attributes and will be ignorant of any effective self defense. Most parents don't see through the smokescreen and come to the conclusion that that their child is a genius for making his rank so quickly. In reality, they bought the black belt as soon as they signed the contract. Stay away from any schools that offer these types of programs. They are dishonest."
How can I determine a real Martial arts school that teaches the essence from a Sport school?
"At the present time, you have to ask a very simple and direct question. Ask them if they do MMA / UFC or do any sport involvement or tournaments. If they say 'yes', then they are not a Martial arts school and they teach Martial sports. This is getting very tricky to determine. Trying to broaden their market, they now have cunning ads that are claiming they teach Zen meditation and Chi Kung with the sport (which is 100% contrary to what their Martial sport involvement is about). You can rule out 90% of the frauds by asking about sport involvement. Then in the 10% left, you have a good chance of finding a school that teaches the Martial way. Asking them that simple question will save you alot of time and frustration. If you happen to see the words MMA or see pictures of any of the MMA fighters on their website, it's a Martial sport and not Martial arts."
