A group called the Odinic Rite has a BJJ team called Team Fyrd. I just wanted show this since I thought it was cool. Not surprisingly martial pursuits are very popular within American Asatru.

'Odinist' is often codeword for 'cultural essentialist/white supremacist/reactionary.

You mean boneheads, not skinheads. I would avoid making this mistake around legitimate skinheads, as they aren't too keen on it.

Not odd at all. My family line goes back to Gunnar or (originally) gunnr which mean "battle". Many of them went into the Scottish highlands and later changed the name into "Gunn."

Humor me a bit then. I found the Odinic Rite website, and what appears to be the Team Fyrd myspace page, but didn't see anything referencing the "black" and "gay" communities. Mind you I didn't look terribly long, but a link would be nice. I also withhold judgment based on the Sig rune usage, it all depends on context. In this case though, I will say it does look a bit suspicious, based on what my understanding of how the actual rune "should" look like in use.

Also, I think the title of this thread may be wrong, as 'Odinist' refers to the racist movement. Asatru follows the same ideas without the white supremacy, although I'm not really a scholar on the subject.

As far as I am aware, the Salem witch trials were events largely driven by Christian stigma towards witchcraft. These executions were not sacrifices to God, and I feel to say they are is a flagrant lie.

My own experience with individual members of the OR is that their politics varied. But with the context of American Asatru it does seem that those who identify as Odinist are often of the Nazitru bent.
