America has a health care problem allright.

I had a doc one time trying to tell me vitamins were bad for me. Here I am athletic build, resting heart rate of 50 beats a min, and here is the doc who looks like the only exercise he has had is doing 12oz curls telling me vitamins are no good. What we need is just better doctors that understand preventive medicine, rather then the "oh it hurts there, let me write you a prescription" kind of doctors.

too many fat soluble vitamins won't be excreted in urine so it'll build up in your fat stores. if you suddenly lose weight it'll come out of solution and cause severe toxicity, possibly renal or liver failure among other things.

uh, using tongue depressors as baby splints and paper clips to close wounds "may have legal and ethical implications"??? that's got to be the understatement of the year.

maybe you should try exercising your brain once in a while!

I only take a multi-vitamine made from whole food concentrates, and Omega 3. I could of seen his point if I was taking lots of different ones. This doctor also said you can get all the vitamins you need from food, which most studies have shown to be false. He also made this statment "If one of my older patients takes vitamines or herbs and feels better for a while so be it, they are just going to die anyways". This is a real problem with doctors in Florida because they mostly deal with old people, and just write out prescriptions. This doctor couldn't figure out why I came to see him, even after I told him I like to get a physical every 2 yrs as a preventive measure. He just seemed preplexed with the notion.

Two reasons I hate most doctors: 1.) They listen to you for about 8 seconds then start writing a prescription.
2.)Bio-ethic's.

What does the doctor's physical condition have to do with the medical validity of his advice?

I dunno Brand, but I'd be equally skeptical of a skinny chef.

I wouldn't be, especially with the health food craze these days.

Very bad doctors excepted, doctors these days are very aware of preventative care. But nobody wants to listen. And if you tell Mrs. Eat-Monster to STOP EATING THE KRISPY KREME DONUTS she will just go get a "second opinion".
